True or False?

So, apparently, you are really, REALLY amazing.  I mean, wow.  You sing with perfect pitch, speak with profound elegance, or hit home runs on a regular basis.  Maybe you are efficient at your job, you travel the world doing good, or take care of sick people in the hospital.  Whatever it is, you are phenomenal, exceptional, and incredible.  It’s like you were created for this.  Like you belong here, doing this thing.  It’s as if some Higher Being instilled such abilities and talents within you.

In fact, you’re doing such a great job that you have to tone it down some.

You are just too amazing, you’re starting to outshine God.  Yes, you, with all your good intentions, are drawing too much attention to yourself with your talents and wisdom and qualities and character.  Let’s not forget how imperfect you still are.  Let’s not forget all the dumb things you do all the time.  You get stuck in some vicious, repetitive cycles of failure and success, remember?  Some days are not so good as others.  Obviously, whatever good you do can’t really be credited to you, anyway.

No compliments, please!  No glory!  This is all God.  All of this great stuff is all God.  Don’t look at you, it’s not you.  You didn’t do it.

How arrogant are you to think that you could somehow rob God of His glory?

Did He not give you this gift?  Did He not empower you to use it?  Did you not try to seek His face when you started out?  Do you not talk to Him?  You try, as much as you are able, to seek Him and to see Him.  Your are too pure to have any other motive.  You have dined with Yahweh at the table of Salvation that Yahshua set for you.  That has shaped your life, changed your thoughts, ordered your steps.  He has you and you have Him.

He is your Father.  You are, at least, his servant.  At best, his son.

There is a look in a father’s eyes, or a smile that crosses his face when he sees something great that his child has done.  That look; it captures any son.  People who have not had fathers hunger for this look and try to find it anywhere they can; that’s how powerful it is.  It is a smile or look of sheer joy, pride, love, acceptance… I can’t begin to describe it.  There is a passion and a feeling that sears itself into your heart and mind and memory when you have done something that makes your father smile at you or look at you like that.

It’s in that moment, when you look up from slamming some guy down on the rugby field.  It’s in that moment when you look up and you say, “I want to be a pilot”.  It’s in that moment, when you stand up on the stage while hundreds of peope clap and turn your eyes to that one.

It’s in that moment when everybody is looking at you.  You have captured the world’s attention, for a moment.  You are not outshining Him.  If you could see His face, you would know you are shining with Him.  He is sharing that moment with you.

You don’t have to say it.  You don’t have to step back.  You worked hard.  You sought after.  You took the steps.  He held your hand, but if you had not tried to walk you would not be here.  Allow Him His moment through you.  With you.  He lives for that.  He loves that.

It is arrogance and pride to presume to say to those around you that you are nothing, when you have done so much through Him and for Him so that He could be seen in you.  You took His gift of salvation and improved upon it with His Holy Spirit as your guide.  You built your character, ordered your steps, said yes and no as you should.  To say you are nothing, is not true any more.  It is a lie.  And if you believe it, you spit in the face of all Yahweh has done for you.

Let go of your false humility and step into something true.  That you are not perfect, but becoming perfected into Him.  You chose Him and you still choose Him and He abides within you.  You, and whatever glory you have, belong to Him.

You are amazing.  And that’s the truth.
