Caught

You have been there and you have jumped.

You have cast yourself from the top of the Temple Mount in your own life.   You once stood in this place and worshipped your Creator.  The place of strength, the seat of authority, the place where you knew Him in your infantile state.  Whatever it was, it was the closest that we could get to Him.  The place where we thought we knew everything; ourselves entirely.

You have stood there.  You have jumped.  We all have.

Maybe it was to prove something, or because you needed something, or because the truth was not comfortable for you.  And when you flung your heart and your mind and your body followed; there was a space between the leap and the ground.  In that space, there wasn’t much of a difference in the feeling of flying and the feeling of falling.

Not until you were caught.

Their arms, so familiar, not quite right.  But similar, and close enough; you justified.  Their voices, too soft to be sinister.  It must be, it just must be.  You have already jumped.  You have already jumped.  You are certain of your descent.  You cannot go back.

Was it the angels who caught you?

Was it them who took your arms, sold you lies?  Was it they that bolstered you in your deception?  Adding weight to your collapse, fuel to your fire, destruction to your demise?

You felt caught, held, safe.  You were, you thought, protected.  Right.  Gravity is a law after all.  You jumped and you did not know you were falling.

Because you are always caught.

You are always caught by something.  If not angels, then demons.

And only demons will catch you…

…just to bring you higher…

…just to watch you fall again.
